Laura J.Schlagel, M.D.
Laura Schlagel, M.D. is a board certified neurologist who continued her education by completing a fellowship in neuroimmunology at the University of Alabama. Her mentor in training was the widely renowned expert in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology, John Whitaker, M.D..Dr. Schlagel earned her Doctorate in Medicine at Northwestern Univ. School of Medicine in Illinois, and she completed an Internal Medicine internship at the Sinai-Samaritan Medical Center of the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Upon completion of her Neurology residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Dr. Schlagel's fellowship education at the University of Alabama was supported in part by the National Institutes of Health, where in collaboration with Dr. Whitaker she published several peer reviewed scientific studies. Dr. Schlagel has also won several prestigious awards in her career.
Dr. Schlagel focuses her practice in the area of multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neurological diseases that have immunological underpinnings. She is highly skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of such illnesses, as one might expect, considering her background; but it is important to note her interest and participation in the most current efficacy based treatments for such disorders, as well as experimental trials. However, she also practices general neurology, and she is passionate about quality neurological care regardless of where the diagnosis takes her. Her practice is open and she is accepting patients.
