Snow Canyon Clinic: About Snow Canyon Clinic

About Snow Canyon Clinic

Snow Canyon Clinic (SCC) is a small multispecialty clinic located near the mouth of the beautiful Snow Canyon and the Red Mountain Spa in Ivins, Utah. We seek to provide Southern Utah, Southeast Nevada and Northern Arizona with medical specialty services that have been absent or under-represented in this area, and we have consistently succeeded in meeting this goal.

The Clinic offers state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services in a variety of primary care areas, including Family Practice and Internal Medicine, and dentistry, as well as specialty areas, including Neurology, Hematology/Oncology, Radiology, Pulmonary Medicine and Cardiology. Clinical services at SCC are further complemented by a cardiac physiology laboratory, an epilepsy diagnostics and monitoring laboratory, a sleep disorders laboratory, an electrodiagnosis laboratory, a chemotherapy infusion laboratory, a dental clinic, and, most recently, a comprehensive clinical diagnostic laboratory. The latter service is provided by Quest Laboratories, Inc., an independent contractor.

SCC is also home to the Snow Canyon Imaging Center, which provides services in MRI, PET-CT, routine and specialized ultrasound diagnosis, x-ray and DEXA (for measuring bone density). We maintain the most sophisticated MRI and PET-CT services west of Houston in terms of the breadth of protocols we employ, including routine non invasive vital body imaging, chemical analysis (MR Spectroscopy), 3-D and volume rendering and analysis, of vascular and other structures, comprehensive cardiac MRI, endoscopic analysis (non invasive imaging of the inside of blood vessels and other tubular structures including the tracheobroncheal tree, and quantitative vessel analysis). Furthermore, we provide sophisticated protocols that achieve comprehensive non invasive imaging and analysis of the coronary arteries and other cardiac structures, calcium scoring (CT only) and function; either with CT or MRI.  To ensure the highest possible quality of clinical review, our cardiac and certain other MRI studies are read at the Cleveland Clinic by the world renowned expert Scott Flamm, M.D.. We are committed to "pushing the envelope" in the development and application of modern non-invasive MRI technology and other technologies that may or may not involve ionizing radiation.

All physicians at SCC are board-certified in their particular areas of specialty. Our staff includes specialists trained at Baylor University School of Medicine, the Cleveland Clinic, Albert Einstein University School of Medicine, the University of Utah School of Medicine, the University of Illinois School of Medicine, the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine, Cornell University, New York University, the Texas Heart Institute, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins Medical Center, and Stanford, amongst others.. All of our technologists are certified professionals who are not only technically superb but compassionate and professional in all respects, and of outstanding character.

Several of our physicians also have Ph.D. degrees and participate in basic and clinical research in addition to their routine clinical activities. A modern laboratory on the Clinic campus is shared by Hamit-Darwin-Freesh, Inc. (HDF), a business subunit of SCC. HDF's goal is drug discovery through the analysis of large and small molecules found largely in nature, with particular emphasis in the areas of Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and epilepsy. HDF collaborates with distinguished scientists around the world, and has several patents for new technological developments. HDF is under the general direction of Gary L. Jones, M.D., Ph.D.

The code word at SCC is "excellence" in all that we do. We seek to become recognized as a center for excellence in medicine and continue to direct all our efforts in that direction.
